The Life Of A Junior Hairdresser
I went to my trial day at Ministry Of Hair today. The people were all really friendly and really nice which is good. My day wasn't particularly interesting and not very exciting but I know that I won't be doing it for ever it's just for now. Here is what a junior hairdresser's day consists of:- Taking client's coats
- Getting cups of tea/coffee for clients
- Washing towels
- Shampooing client's hair
- Sweeping hair off of the floor
- Getting the lunch order from the sandwich shop
- Cleaning
- Tidying shelves and putting products back where they belong
It turns out that I'm quite good at this so THEY OFFERED ME A JOB!!!!! So now I'm a junior hairdresser in the making! Yay! It's not gonna be easy but I think I can do it. I'm really looking forward to things now that I know what I'm going to be doing. The only BIG downside is getting up early every morning to catch the 8 o'clock bus. I guess I will get used to eventually. I'll be working five days a week from 9-6 so I guess I will have to get used to it. So things are definatly looking up and Im over the moon! So now when people say have you got a job yet? (the old question I used to dread) I can finally say YES!
Starting to get somewhere
Things are starting to look up now. Apparently the blonde bobbed haired lady left a message on my phone but I never got it so maybe she lied! I dunno who cares!
I had an interview last week with a hairdressing academy. It went really well. The lady who interviewed me is willing to enroll me onto the course as soon as I get a job at a salon. They set me up an interview with Ministry of Hair (a really nice salon in town)! I've just got back from that interview and they want me to go in on Friday for a trial day! So if all goes well then my training can begin! So we shall see how things go!
Apart from that there isn't much else to say.
Blonde Bobbed haired lady where were you?
I am so amazingly annoyed! I have had the most annoying morning in the whole world! I had a job interview this morning at 9.30 for a hairdressing job. The salon is opening in mid February so the lady on the phone when I rang up about the job told me that to meet her in debenhams resturant because the salon wasn't open yet. She told me that she had blonde hair in a bob with a fringe and to meet her on Tuesday 16th of January at 9.30.
So I got up nice and early so that I would be somewhat awake when I got there. I straightened my hair and put on the cutest outfit ever. It was a struggle walking in my stilletos but at least I looked perfessional. I took my NRA with me accompanied with a CV. I was a little bt nervous but I usually perform best when I am a little bit nervous. I got the 8.40 bus giving me pleantly of time to get into town. I met my nextdoor neighbour Cassie on the bus so we had good old natter I told her all about my interview and she wished me luck. We got into town half an hour before my interview so we decided to continue our natter in Costa to kill abit of time.
I left Cassie at about 9.20 and got to Debenhams about 9.25. I didn't know that Debenhams opens at 9.30 so I waited outside for five minutes until the doors were opened. I was looking around for this blonde, bobbed haired lady but couldn't see her at all. I went up to the resturant which was practically empty and couldn't see her. I thought it was a little strange so I thought I'd wait for a little while she'd probly be along in a minute or two. So I waited and waited. It got to about 9.40 and so I rang my mum asking her advice on what I should do. She said that maybe she had got held up in traffic or something. Thinking she was probly right I waited again. After a couple more minutes I saw a blonde, bobbed haired lady coming up the escalator but it wasn't her because she walked straight passed the resturant and into the kids section. She was the only blonde bobbed haired lady I had seen the whole time I had been waiting.
I waited until 10.00 and nobody came. I felt very annoyed and I still am because I still don't know what happened to her. I wonder if she ever turned up. Maybe she forgot about me. When I got home I tried ringing her to see if I could find out but she didn't pick up her phone.
So I've wasted an entire morning and bus fare! I wonder if I will ever get a job! So now nobody can say I havn't tried grrrrr!!!!!!
Lets home Thursday goes better when I have my hairdressing academy interview. At least I know that its in a place where I can't miss someone and at least I know the name of who is interviewing me.
So if anyone finds this lady then I would very much like to know where she is!!!!!
It's been awhile
It's been awhile since I last wrote I just havn't had that much to say. I've been so amazingly bored and nothing much has gone on. Christmas was good and it was really nice to see all my family and friends. Christmas is such a good time of year because everyone is happy and smiley and you can't help but smile. This is my first post of the year so Happy New Year everyone. I'm gonna try and make sure this year is a good one. Last year was a good one and I achieved a lot but hopefully this year will be even better Heres an update on my life at the moment. I have a part time job in my brother's girlfriend's parent's pub. Does that make sense? This is just for now so I don't die of bordom and to get a little bit of money coming in. I have 2 interviews for next week. My first one is to work in a new hairdressing salon that is opening up next month as a junior hairdresser. This is on Tuesday and I'm really nervous so please pray for me. My other interview is for a hairdressing academy to get an aprentiship so I can train to get an NVQ in hairdressing. This one takes place next Thursday and I really hope it goes well. I'm really trying to stay positive at the moment but it's not always easy when you're not quite sure just where exactly your life is going. It scares me so much, but I'm just trying to think positive. Anyways I'd better go and do something exciting........ummm yeh.
